The Metro UI will work fine on tablets and other touchscreen devices, but the desktop PC crowd is none too pleased with it. There is a general feeling that Windows 8 is missing too many features to appeal to desktop users, whether it is the removal of the Start menu or lack of Windows Media Center.

You have just explained my exact feelings about win8.

For me the only touchscreen hi that I genuinely like is android and it is fantastic for me.

Maybe one day windows will catch-up in some ways but metro isn't close and to be brutally honest the tiles do my head in and really turn me off the product.

That's all before getting to the bit where the desktop isn't really a desktop anymore and the many other faults I have with windows 8.

I know its supposed to be redeemed by touchscreen applications but again touchscreen is android tab/phone for me.

If its touch and windows its either an add on tablet or twist down laptop with a pen input for drawing purposes.
