90sgamer Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 (edited) I actually was going to suggest a failing PSU earlier, but didn't get around around to posting again. That could be the issue. What made me think that before was the 9800GX2 is a very power hungry card, and if it wasn't getting the power it needed, it could be causing these problems. That GT430 you tried is a lot less stressful on the PSU, and might have been stable at whatever reduced voltage the PSU could have been providing. If your case fans are connected directly to the power supply, not the motherboard, and not working, that there is definitively something wrong with the PSU. Try a different one if you have a spare. There you can also get a power supply tester. Edited July 12, 2012 by 90sgamer
IVIYTH0S Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Hmm could be coincidentally your PSU doesn't want to feed the GX2 anymore lol, because the cards you swap in are much more efficient. Didn't think of that until right before I read that you suspected it too. Maybe try it in a friend's computer if they have a good PSU or just swap their PSU into your computer
