ASRock P55 Extreme Mobo Cooler that will fit?

Recommended Posts

Hey there. Just thought i would tell you that one of our reviewers is selling off Alot of cases. You nay look into it cause all of them are on the cheap too. :D i have bought from her before also. Her name is Bluepanda. Here is a link to her fs thread. I know those cases will house a prolimatech megahalems and a few other good heatsinks or maybe even an h80 or h100. Check them out.

Gettin the pics now, Im gonna predict the future right here and now and Angel is going to recommend that the first thing I get is a Case and Cooler! :)

How did you possibly guess that????????????????? :lol:

But seriously your case is horrific for overclocking. There is very little airflow, and whatever your airflow does have is being obstructed by all your cables.

You need a case with plenty of airflow and plenty of cable management.

Personally I would go with an NZXT gama case. It is cheap, has tons of ventilation. pretty good cable management, and it is only about 40 bucks. I used this case and the noctua NH-D14 on my i7 950 (which runs hotter than your i5) and got it up to about 4ghz.It is an awesome budget case if you want to OC :thumbsup:

However, here is the real situation. Sooner or later you are going to need a new build. That is just a fact. It might be worth it to invest in a case that you can use for years to come. This is totally up to you, but you might want to look into the NZXT phantom. It is a full tower case at a very good price and it gives plenty of options to customize your build. Just my two cents :cheers:

Ya ill get a case, but Im back in Cali now and next week Im having to pay UPS, $180.00 to ship my 50In plasma, I MISS MY BABY! :)

Ya a case that can handle the excess of cables with my monst 850W PS would be nice, I got that for future proofing, but it sure gets in the way!

Im curious Angel and Boinker, do you guys go AMD or Nvidia for Graphics cards, after the absolute AMAZING power from my GTX 470 ill be Nvidia all the way, what about u guys?

And why do you guys think they discontinued them? I think they had too much damn power and overclocked too well!

I never overclocked mine in the past 2 years and am currently playing Witcher 2 on High with an lga1156 i5760 and only 2gb of memory!

The 470 is discontinued because tech progresses.

Why stick with making something old?

Especially if it's heat output is really high and it's relatively in efficient in terms of power.

I would go nvidia purely because of drivers. Although the 7850 is an absolute sweet spot for price and performance for a single 1080p monitor.

If you want a bit more there is the 670 which is well cooled and power efficient.

The new 7xxx series and 6xx series cards are really efficient.

Is the extra 70$ really worth the extra 2gb memory or the 100$ for the 680, it looks like the best option would be to just get the 670 or 6704gb if the memory would really improve that much, but im guessing it wouldn't!

**********What do you think Stonerboy779?

670 = $400

670 4GB = $470

680 = $500

680 Signature 2 = $520 "Only 2gb of memory"

Ok so im gonna get the HAVIK-140 Cooler

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835146011

and the same brand NZXT Case

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146065

Only comes with a top and front fan, side(optional), but i think ill use the extra fan i have at the house to put in the back, weird it wouldn't come with one already on the back, isnt that the most important one to exhaust out?

And its got the Cable routing holes to get rid of the extra hundred cables from my 850W PS, :)

Are you sure you want that case. Its an matx case and i am pretty sure that board you have posted is atx so you will not be able to mount it in there.

Ok, ill go that, while i do that will u take a look at my Final setup and its up to 613.94, ill list them all and if you could look at them and tell me which i could change to slightly lower to save a little money, id appreciate that.

The only 2 I really want to change that could knock a little off the final price would be the memory, going from (4x4gb=16gb to 4x2gb=8gb) and the SSD is 125.98 for the vertex 4 with shipping with that sale if i can make it.

With the I7-3960x, i need the H80cooler so i can overclock if i want to, unless you know of a slightly cheaper one that would cool the 3960x and give me the chance to OC if wanted to later.

AND THANK YOU, for that motherboard suggestion, 2 hrs talking with others on here, and the first 1 you suggest is one that I like at first glance, and got good reviews. Heres the final build.
