I want to got straight in from the rad to the cpu block. A 45 out from the cpu block to a 45 on the left of the top koolance block. Another 45 out from the top right koolance block to a 45 on the bottom right koolance block. Finally 1 45 out from the left of the bottom koolance block crossing over into the reservoir. For the coolant I'm planning on using distilled water and a silver coil. Should I be worried about using copper, nickel, and a silver coil in the same loop? Some people I know use glycol in their loop so they don't worry about corrosion. I always thought distilled and a coil was the best, I dunno anymore. Well, how does this all look to you guys? Waco Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I probably wouldn't use the quick disconnects (they kill flow pretty quickly with multiple in the same loop) but other than that it looks good. Distilled + a silver coil is all you need, copper and nickel play nicely for the most part. Unless you really like the looks of the tubing you've chosen I'd go with something smaller. There's essentially zero performance difference between 3/8" ID and 1/2" ID tubing - but the former is MUCH easier to work with. It would be a much easier to work with system sense you are doing a motherboard block also. Other then that everything looks nice and in order. I've done some test bends on some spare 1/2 by 3/4 tubing and I think I'll be alright with it without kinking it. That's why I'm going with the 45's. Actually this is the first build where money isn't really a problem for me so I kinda want to go a little nuts with it. Also I was told to use M3x30 screws to mount the fans to the rad, will that be enough length to also mount it to the top of the case? Thanks for the input though. Anyone else? Boinker Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 The way i test that is if the screw is long enough to mount a fan with a grille i go ahead and mount one of the fans and watch the bolts to make sure they are not to long. If that is what comes with the radiator then you should be ok. 3-30mm bolts are made in many different flavors so you might want to go to a hardware store and see what kind of colors and style of head that you like and grab some. I personally prefer button headed Allen key if they are exposed. And if you can get then with a washer style head in hex that would be even better. Speedway Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 When it comes to tubing size, Gary over at Sidewinder gave me some good advice....If you have room for 1/2" ID 3/4" OD then use it, if not and space is limited, use the 3/8" ID 1/2" ID.
