Boot up & error BSOD #124

LLC101

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I'm just new to this overclocking frenzy so please don't laugh at me if I come out with the most silliest questions, I really do need some help/advice with this =/

Anyways I got myself the Intel i7-2700k with the Z68X-UD4-B3 Gigabyte Motherboard, Nvidia GTX570, 4x2GB Kingston Memory (1600), Asetek Water Cooling 570LX... blah!

I was able to stabilize the CPU at 4.6GHz with a Vcore of 1.345v

It passed the burn test with the highest temperatures peaking at 52-58'c at 50%-60% Load

However I am struggling to stabilize the CPU at 4.7GHz... I tired the Vcore in increments of 0.5. I went from 1.345 to 1.380v and it still gives me a BSOD with error ending in #124

This is what I have so far -

CPU Clock Ratio (47x) 4.70GHz (100 x 47)

PWM Frequency - Auto

OVER Current Protection - Auto

Internal CPU PLL Overvoltage - Auto

Multi Step Load Line - Disabled

CPU Vcore - 1.375v

Dynamic Vcore - Auto

VTT Voltage - 1.050v Auto

CPU PLL - 1.800v

DRAM - 1.500v Auto

Memory - Extreme (1600)

PWM Frequency - Auto

Confusion, if that's not enough BIOS info, I will gather some more. In the mean time I will keep trying. . . with your help of course, I don't want the death of a brand new CPU!

#124 usually means you need more vcore. My 2600K is similar - 4.6 GHz was rather easy but 4.7 GHz isn't 100% stable with any reasonable voltage.

I don't get that, I mean I don't have all the answers but why is 100mhz extra such a pain in the butt to try and achieve!

Once you get past the "sweet spot" you start running into diminishing returns pretty quickly.

:dunno: I try. :)

Well I think you do well.

Just a quick question, my 4.7GHz keeps crashing while playing BF3 on ultra settings after 15 mins game play. Keep getting that error #124 (As it states needs more Vcore, but in the CPUID it doesn't seem to be changing the voltage). Do you think I should enable the LLC to maybe level 4 or 5 since it's disabled. Vcore is currently set at 1.385v. I don't wanna go over the 1.405v mark, just want the temps kept below 75'c, considering burn test peaked at 61'c on 60% load.

I know my knowledge ain't the highest (even after scanning through some parts in those links you provided) but once I get it @ 4.7GHz by someone running me through it to stable, then I will be happy, for a few weeks haha!

When 4.6GHz is stable then why are you trying to go to 4.7 when you are getting BSOD @4.7?

I just wanna push it that little bit more to 4.7GHz. I'm sure there has been a point where you have went a little further than what's intended.
