SkytTe Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Hi there. Yes it's me again. Since the audio chip in my mobo sucks I'd like a sound card. I really just want the cheapest I can get, since everything will be an upgrade. I've been looking at the really cheap Creative Sound Blaster 5.1 VX and wanted to know your opinion on this one? It's so hard to find reviews on sound cards. And then a little question; there are 4 mini jack in-/outputs on this card, but what do they do respectively? I do know that the green one is for sound and the blue one is for the mic, but what about the rest? Ty - Skytte
Celcius Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 (edited) I'm not sure how much the VX is, but have you considered the Asus Xonar DG? ($25) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829132020&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle-_-Sound+Card-_-ASUS-_-29132020 As for the connectors on the back of the VX, I found this info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_card#Color_codes Edited November 19, 2011 by Celcius
GabrielT Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 +1 on the Xonar Great sound, headphone amp very nice EQ. Also cheaper than anything else you can put in your computer.
SkytTe Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Thanks for your replies. I guess the Xonar would be a good choice, but I've been looking around on used sound cards as well and found this Creative Sound Blaster X-fi Xtreme Audio lydkort. 7.1 very cheap. Would that be a good deal?
aspevacek Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 If I am not mistaken the extreme audio has a limited set of features to it. It was either the extreme aduio or the extreme gamer.
bp9801 Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 If I am not mistaken the extreme audio has a limited set of features to it. It was either the extreme aduio or the extreme gamer. It's the Xtreme Audio. That card is just a rebadged Audigy SE, totally not worth it. I'd go for any of the ASUS Xonar cards personally.
