IVIYTH0S Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 what speed is your memory during all this OC'n?? Have you been keeping the memory under it's rated speed?

IVIYTH0S Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 with the unstable overclock you should run a memtest and see if it fails
nezrop Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 what is a good memtest and what do you mean unstable? with the 3.7 it runs fine and with anything above it wont even boot.
Boinker Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Memtest86 is what I think ivy is refering too. I have overclocked a C2D or two but cannot seem to remember how. Good luck. And BTW: what stage of boot are you refering too. Post, freeze, boot screen or no video output at all? What does it do?
nezrop Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 the computer powers up and i get no video then it turns off....this happens about 6 times then resets itself so i can adjust settings and is that program free?
Boinker Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Yes. But you do not need memtest. Have you tried backing off your ram when you raise the FSB? Only reason is that issue screams memory in my head.

Boinker Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Memory is a pain as always. Its usually the cause of a no post or no video in the systems I have run when overclocking. That does not mean its the issue its just the first thing I try to rule out cause if i test it last that is usually what it ends up being. then dimms go flying.
