Black64 Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Hi, I have a Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H Mobo and a AMD X6 1090t which I am trying to OC but when I raise the CPU multiplier it does nothing. When I do change it the bios shows the correct OC speed but when I boot it shows it at stock speed. The only way I have been able to OC it was by raising the bus speed (stock at 200). The multiplier always seems to stay at 16X no matter what I do. Please help! other info CPU cooler noctua nh-d14 700 watt PSU Mobo bios V1.0 ( was thinking this may be the problem) Cool'n quiet is off AMD 1090t @ 3.
VeNotes Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 what are you using to see the current speed try cpu-z
Black64 Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I have used it. It stills shows 3.
Black64 Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 The reason I got the 1090t was for an easy OC. If anyone is wondering the Vcore is 1.45 on the CPU. I have not moved it.
Black64 Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Please help! really want to get to 4Ghz
smduff Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 1.45 seems pretty high thats what i have mine set at for a 4ghz OC stock should be 1.37 if all the power saving features are off if there on then it can drop as low as 1.
Black64 Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Should I lower it then? I don't want to move it if I don't have to.
smduff Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 If you want to OC the just do it and leave the voltage as is, see how far you get.
Black64 Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I don't think the problem is the voltage. Its when I raise the multiplier in the bios it doesn't really raise the CPU speed in windows is my problem.
Black64 Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I have seen and read a lot of reviews of how to OC this CPU and raising the multiplier was always step 1. So I am kinda lost here.
spectrascope Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Check your bios settings and makesure you have the most upto date bios, also make sure easy tune isn't screwing with anything once you get into windows.
Black64 Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 I was thinking that the bios may be the problem, but from Gigabytes website the latest bios doesn't change anything with any of the OC settings.
