Need Help Overclocking my AMD Athlon II x2 245 ...

Hi all, I'm new here .... So this is my PC:

MotherBoard: Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P

Graphics card: PowerColor Radeon HD 5750 1GB GDDR5 / 128bit

RAM: 2x Mushkin 2GB DDR3 1333

Processor: AMD Athlon II X2 245 (2.9GHz, DA-C2)

HDD: WD 500GB (16MB buffer, SATA II)

DVD-RW Optiarc AD-7200S

Source: Modecom Logic 500W

My processor is working stock at 2.9GHz ....but I want to get a little more power from it, I want to get 3.2GHz or 3.4GHz ...(I've read some forums that this processor can go around 3.7GHz or even higher with stock cooler ... I don't really want that much, but 3.4GHz would be nice)...

I've search over the internet, but I would not do o.c. on my own, I would like to hear the opinion of other people who have more experience in this than me ...

So my Bios look like this:

I know that the multiplicator (CPU Clock Ratio) is blockad at x14.5 so the only way is to change the CPU Frequency from 200 to 235 ... From what i've read over the internet, the stock voltage is good...

So what exactly do I have to change in that menu to do the overclock ... also with what I test if my PC is stable or not ? Prime95 is good ?

*PS: Sorry for my bad english...

Just change the cpu frequency with the x in front of it in the bios from 200 to 235.

Prime 95 is fine for testing, run it for a few hours and see if it's stable. If it isn't then push up the voltage a little, also try and keep the temperature below 74 degrees

Those chips are good for 3.6ghz with ease. Just set the fsb to 248 and leave the multi at x14.5 and hey... 3.6ghz. At that frequency you need about 1.4v maybe more with that chip. Remember if you are increasing the fsb over 230 often you need to put a little more voltage through the nb. Finally try lowering the ram multi and you will be good to go. Good luck and i hope this helps.

First attempt => Epic Fail :( ....

Tried with fsb 235 (3.4GHz) .... worked about 15-20 min in Prime95 (Blend option) ... then bluescreen .... temp about 56*C

Will try again with 221 ...later

Still, not beeing able to get 3.4 GHz .... :( makes me think something in not wright ....

egorka , you have Corsair H70, I have stock cooler, that is why I limit myself at 3.2 ~ 3.4 GHz, anyway thanks for your advice...

My is working, but I have some sort of problem:

So these are my Bios settings:

It may be becouse I didn't updated my CPU voltage (I wanted to see in I really need to rise it) ???

And another thing intresting is that at default settings (2.9 GHz) I get 50~52*C with Prime95 (seems little strange when I get 54~56*C at 3.4 GHz)

Exept the error problem in Prime95 after 2 hours, the sistem works great .....

I have the Prime95 error to. I think thaT IS because of RAM. its too hight.
