Zoso Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 Oh, sorry, wasn't thinking, I'm not sure what resolution he will be playing at. All I know is his Screen Size.
IVIYTH0S Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 Does he have any parts to use from an old build (aka power supply, hard drives, optical drives, keyboard/mouse), a screen and the operating system??
smduff Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 Hands down AMD is the better choice for gamming, Bang for Buck wise.

If its widescreen then the odds are its 1600x900, 1680x1050, or 1920x1080. Anyways.. ASUS M4A87TD/USB 3 - $94.99 AMD Athlon II X4 640 - $99.99 Radeon HD 5770 - $149.99 G.Skill 4GB DDR3-1333 - $74.99 Samsung F3 1TB - $74.99 Corsair 550VX - $89.99 Comes out to $585. Just need a case and an optical drive and you'd be set. You can swap out other parts but this gives you a rough idea.

No problem. So ditch the PSU and HDD I linked and you're down to ~$420. Could even spring for a Phenom II at that point, like this X4 955BE for $139.99 which would get you to $460.
