i7 930 overclocking - computer shutting down in games

I recently started overclocking my GPU and CPU. Now, whenever I overclock my CPU, in some games, the computer shuts down in the game menu. So far, I've tested these games:

-Bad company 2 --> No crash

-Mafia 2 --> see below

-Crysis --> crash in menu after 2 seconds

-Batman :AA --> no crash

In mafia 2, I can run the benchmark without any problems, and watch the playboy magazines, edit the settings, pretty much do anything. However, the second ( or two seconds) I press the "Story Mode" button, it shuts down. Now the story mode button does not initialize the engine, only a "choose save file / choose chapter" place. Another menu, you might say. Another point: if I had CPU on stock speeds, computer would never shut down. If I had it OC by 0.2 GHz ( 3.00) It would let me play for 1 hour (give or take) before shutting down. If I OC it to 3.2 It would shut down after 4-5 minutes. 3.4 made it crash in game menu.

I've ran OCCT for 1 hours, no errors.

I've also had a bad PSU (Antec CP-1000). I got a replacement, could this one be faulty too?

As for the overclocking, I have only changed 4 settings in my BIOS:

Vcore 1.25

Multiplier x19

Freq. : 174

"OC mode": Standard (default was Turbo. Other option was Extreme)

Below are all the graphs OCCT gave me, plus the OCCT window + temps. For system specs see signature post

With a base clock of 174 what are you running for the IOH voltage. Please post up your settings in the BIOS so we can give a better more informed answer.

Try an even multiplier instead of an odd one.

How far are you overclocking your GPU. Wth the 5970 you really need to keep it cool to gat an overclock out of it. That usually means bumping the fan speeds up instead of letting the cards BIOS handle the chores.

I am a noob in overclocking, hence I have not touched anything but the values I stated above. I will try with a 20 multiplier. I do not even know what the IOH voltage is, I will check in bios.

As for the GPU, I have flashed the bios for manual fan control. I currently run 850/1150 with a millivoltage of 1125, fan at 60%. I have run furmark for 30 minutes , peak 75C, and played games for many hours with it.
