black lines on right side when printing

Ok on the secretary's HP 2015 laserjet printer there is a black line being printed sometimes dark some times light on documents. I don't know much about printers so that's why I am asking. This is the same printer payroll is printed on so I need to get it fixed before it makes my paycheck no good (forget the rest of the company I want mine hehe) not sure if a few blast of air would help it or not as I haven't tried yet, but if ya'll know of a fix for this please let me know.

oops title wrong lol its the left side not right

I'd try and see if the printer has an option to clean the heads or nozzles or anything. Whenever lines or spots appear on papers I print, I run the cleaning program on the printer and it usually fixes it. Also, how old is the ink in it?

well it started with the old toner cartridge and has kept doing even with a new one installed it has been happening for about 3 weeks now the new cartridge was installed 2 weeks ago approximately

not sure if it has a cleaning ability or not going to look into that though too

Hmm, weird that it has persisted across two cartridges. Its possible its something with the heads or nozzles so I'd check to see if it has a cleaning program. If not well, could always open it up and inspect to see if something is being dragged across or even torn.

The 2015s are some pretty good printers, if it's still doing it after to toner swap i would say there's some crap left over on some of the internal printers parts like the fuser assembly/transfer roller etc, might want to try and blow it out with some compressed air. Hopefully that fixes it and it doesn't need a full maintenance kit to get it back printing properly (expensive as hell relative to printer cost).

Anyway I would try that as a starting point and see if that changes it. I've also gutted and cleaned a few older HPs of similar design and had mixed results on print quality afterwards so that might be worth trying too.

I've seen this happen on laser printers. It's the drum. You need to either clean it, if possible, or simply replace it outright. Best way to clean it would be some isopropyl alcohol.
