mpj Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Just installed this last night and was HOPING that it wouldn't interfere with my RAM, but it is infact touching the heatsinks on them. I was wondering if there is an aftermarket bracket that allows this to be installed vertically? If not i'm probably just going to buy a different HSF. tkrow21 Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Is it just touching? Because that in itself is not a problem.
mpj Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Hmm, I just pulled it all apart again ands re-positioned the fan higher on the heatsink and it seems that may have been most of the problem. The ram stick under the hsf doesn't appear to have any pressure on it and wiggles pretty easily. So far the temp gains are roughly minus 3-4* off idle(from 34-35 down to 30-31) and 8* off full load(from 49-52 down to 41-44). It is pretty hot in my room right now though(about 84* F), hoping for a little better gain in cooler weather, but I don't think it'll happen. The CPU is running stock. Do you all think that she'll drop a few more or that's all I can expect? Also using a thin spread of Arctic Silver MX-3 currently (was using stock amd hsf/stock thermal paste befeore). I might pull it off and re-seat it because I'm paranoid, but still debating that.
