Upgrading an OLD PC

Hey all

I've been taking a look at my in-laws PC as they asked me to make it a bit faster. Having carried out the usual clean-up routine and seen that they had 256Mb of RAM I upgraded to 2Gb pretty much immediately and it's made a big difference. The next problem is the graphics card - it's an on-board 32Mb one which stumbles on web-pages, so it needs an upgrade. The mobo is a K7VM2 and CPUZ says it is AGP 2.0 (so 4x), and their PSU has no pare outputs. I can't find a 4x card anywhere, and I'm uncertain on backwards compatibility of newer cards.

So, the question is this: can someone recommend a decent (7000 series nvidia type) card which is compatible with the mobo but doesn't need separate power supply?

Thanks

Would that not need a power supply? :dunno:

This depends on what card you do end up getting. Always check photos of it to see if it requires the extra power. Also, quite a few graphics cards now days come with one Molex (4-pin) to 6-pin adapters so chances are you could get the best that is out for it.
