Mr_Yuck Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 I saw a Sapphire 9800SE for 153 on newegg, is that a good card? Or should I just go with a 9600xt for 160?
InvaderTrax Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Either a 9600XT or 9800 np. Any and all Radeon SE's are crap
Iggy Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 Go with the 9600XT. The 9800SE can be softmodded to a 9500 Pro with an R350 core or a 9800 np/pro depending on the version, but I beleive it's about a 30-50% chance that it's successful. You could always try your luck though.
I_AM_Weasel Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 I bought several Sapphire 9800SE video cards. I used Omega Drivers to unlock pipeline and added the new ATI XT 128meg bios flash and they now run at 425/580 for a card that cost a measly 145 bucks. They 9800SE come stock clocked at 324/500(250x2). I got some to go 435/640(but thats the difference in a card with Hynix and samsung TSOP modules) and that alone will be the overal factor in how high you can OC that card. =o) I AM WEASEL
InvaderTrax Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 What about artifacts?? Everyone I've talked to who got their SE up to Pro speeds has a lot of artifact problems
Neural Interface Posted January 18, 2004 Posted January 18, 2004 The hecules are the best se's to buy becuase they are already at pro speeds, just with the 4 pipelines disabled, so they would probably have the most chance of a sucessful mod I want one to try but just dont have no money
