GodlyManDude540 Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 Hey I have my i7 920 oc to 3.8Ghz on 1.19v but when running prime for a while my max temps stop at 78c oh and my idle is about 43c to 48c. Currently I have a v8 on it but I'm wondering if anyone can point me towards a better air cooler.
Zertz Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 The Noctua D14 is about as good as it gets for air cooling

sdy284 Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 another vote for the d14 as it keeps my 920 @ 4ghz @ 1.36V under 100% load hovers around 70-
El_Capitan Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 (edited) I had the CNPS 9700 NT and I'd keep it at 3.9 GHz with HT if I was doing video encoding or stress testing full loads at 75C. At 4.1 GHz with HT it got up to 80C near full load, so I stopped there before it got any higher. Note, that my i7 920 d0 batch needs higher voltages than other batches. I now have the Noctua NH-D14 and I'm at 4.1 GHz with HT and haven't reached higher than 75C. I'm using TIM Consultants T-C Grease 0098. GodlyManDude540 Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 (edited) Did you leave the stock fans on the d14 or did you put something else on? oh yeah and my 920 is a C0 Edited April 27, 2010 by GodlyManDude540
El_Capitan Posted April 27, 2010 Posted April 27, 2010 (edited) The D14 comes with Noctua fans, one of the best and silent fans around. You'll only hear the air whooshing, but it's hardly loud. Last I looked, the best price was at Amazon.com for $86.99 with free shipping: http://www.amazon.com/Noctua-heatpipe-NF-P...5150&sr=8-2 Edited April 27, 2010 by El_Capitan
