dling Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 You might look in the 1156/1366 overclocking competition thread here http://forums.overclockersclub.com/index.p...howtopic=161432 to get some ideas. I've owned a TRUE and found the Prolimatech Megahalems to work better for me. I run 4GHz 24/7 with no problems for several months. 2 Scythe 110CFM fans in a push/pull configuration. I feel your want to get to 4Ghz as it was a mythical barrier for me as well. I could hit it with a Q6600 and a Phenom II 965 but not stable. I wanted a stable 24/7 4Ghz so I switched to the i7 920 and the Prolimatech and haven't regretted it. Oh and I didn't need to lap the Prolimatech. I use OCZ freeze TIM. We should have similar BIOS so if it will help send me a PM and I'll share settings that may help. Thanks for the offer I may take you up on that. I just reapplied therm paste and changed the direction of one of my case fans to exhale.
rourkchris Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 No problem I have it typed out and saved so it's only a copy and paste away. I do think you need some better cooling first though. Not to be offensive but the V10 isn't a very good cooler IMHO.
dling Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 (edited) Go ahead and sent me your info. Thanks in advance. I'm looking at the Prolimatech Megahalems how many are you running ? I read a review that says there's only enough mounting braces for one fan. Edited March 7, 2010 by dling
rourkchris Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 The Prolimatech comes with 1 set of fan clips but you can purchase a second set for $2.99 http://www.frozencpu.com/products/8890/cpu...?tl=g48c373s960 Good time to pick up some OCZ freeze if you order http://www.frozencpu.com/cat/l3/g8/c127/s4...unds-Page1.html The Prolimatech Megashadow has 2 sets of fan clips included but is a bit more in price. You can also purchase fan clips for 38mm thick 120mm fans if you choose to run those. I run 2 fans on mine. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835185060 I've run 6 Prolimatech Megahalems on different systems and they've all performed great. PM sent. rourkchris Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 I think you'll find it better than what you are currently running. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
