Need a Wildlife Lens for my 500D

Hi All,

 

I have a Canon EOS 500D with the standard 18-55mm kit lens. I like taking pictures of animals/wildlife, and would like a lens that can zoom in more on them.

 

I have been recommend this lens: Canon EF 70-30mm F/4-5.6 IS USM

 

This is right at the end of my budget, don't really want to spend more than

Purely from a quick look around at reviews, it does seem like a good option. I don't think there is much else in the price range (at least from Canon, I don't know about others).

 

I might look at the EF 70-200mm f/4.0 L USM, but you are looking at more for that, plus you get less zoom and no IS (but L glass, which is nice).

 

This site is handy for checking for the lowest prices on lenses in the UK, no matter what you decide in the end.
