ricohouse Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Hi, I'm going to use the GeForce 8800GT from my current computer in my new build until I can afford new graphics card(s). Basically I just want to take it out and run it with onboard graphics for a while until I can put it back in. Should I: 1) uninstall driver 2) physically take the card out 3) change to onboard in the bios or should I change the bios before I take the card out? Have I missed anything? cheers
N.E.A Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 (edited) i think you should remove the card and then the drivers and install the built in driver ..that is what i used to do .... and i remember that i removed the card and installed the built in card software without removing the card's drivers but just to be safe remove the drivers .. potatochobit Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 what I do is uninstall drivers, turn the computer off take out the card, then start back up then if I am going to install a new card I download the drivers-but do not install them turn the computer off and put in the new card, then start up and install new drivers I just do this extra step to keep windows from freaking out which does tend to happen with new hardware sometimes
