doclucas Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 No, it is probably comparable to a Zalman cooler. With the i7's it gets hot really fast. The Megahalems or D14 are your best bet. Did you have a chance to test that yourself or maybe you can point me to the place where the comparison was made?
PingoPongo Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Did you have a chance to test that yourself or maybe you can point me to the place where the comparison was made? Well i didn't find a direct comparsion to the Zalman cooler, but i did find a decent review with lots of air coolers for comparsion. It's right here. doclucas Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Actually this review shows that with the modification/addition of the dual NH-C12P fans - this water cooler is a real winner.
PingoPongo Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 With 2 fans it runs under load @ ~64C, but the Prolimatech Meghalems and Noctua NH-D14 keep it a lot lower.
jackbrennan2008 Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 I would have to say the Corsair Hydro H50 as well. I have one and it's the same price as a top air cooler. Performs fantasticly and you have the added benifit of more room in your case as well a very low noise! http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=

Please have a look at this chart: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardw...-review-10.html The D14 result looks pretty much the same as the H50 to me. davidst Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 This is a good one, plan on lapping a bit. Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme CPU Cooler http://www.frozencpu.com/products/5664/cpu...et_775_AM2.html
GmAz Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 I picked up one of these baddies the ohter day for my new PhenomII 955BE. http://www.frozencpu.com/products/9945/cpu..._AM2AM2AM3.html Took my idle temps from 42C @ 3.6Ghz to 30C. Right now, I'm overclocked to 3.75Ghz and going up slowly and my load temps using OCCT are around 45C. Even at load, the fans are quiet. PingoPongo Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 (edited) Please have a look at this chart: http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardw...-review-10.htmlThe D14 result looks pretty much the same as the H50 to me. Actualy it all depends on the airflow of the case/testbed and the ambient temperature. Oh and btw OCC has a review on the NH-D14 right here. On the 4th page you can see the stock load temp is 41C vs the H50 running 58C. And the NH-D14 is quieter and way safer imo. TropicalPreist Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 i believe user rourkkris owned the H50 and swtiched to megahalems he'd be able to compare the two with experience your asking for. Unless i have it wrong but i would say im 70% sure he owned both at one point.
Nicckko Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 (edited) Hello, Im currently using Corsair H50 in push and pull configuration as an exhaust in my Cooler Master Storm Scout. I bought a pair of Cooler Master Fans >>> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835103061 In my opinion H50 is one of the best price performance coolers around. Proof few tests I made running 20 passes LinX max memory usage, cooling a 920 D0 overclocked to 4.0 GHZ with 1.25 v in BIOS, the H50 manages to keep all my cores below 70 C with an ambient temperature of 25 C (want screenshots just ask). Before H50 I tested a friends V8 and with the same settings cores were touching 76 C. Besides you wont have few pounds and a monsters attached to your motherboard . I found this topic on a forum, take a look: http://www.overclock.net/water-cooling/612...ies-owners.html With your setup I would use a costum water cooling kit, since I saw you dont worry about price.
