PaNewb Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Because i used EVGA OC program and overclocked it by 5-10 mhz a run on the CSS video stress test and found the more i OC'd it i lost FPS. So with that said what is the benefit of OCing anything?
jlqrb Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 (edited) What graphics card are you using? Overclocking can greatly increase the speed of your components, but if you push your hardware to far it can reduce performance instead of increase it. PaNewb Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Yeah that might help oops lol. BFG nvidia GTS 250 OC edition
jlqrb Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 How far have you overclocked the graphics card past stock speeds? Also, your power supply could be a culprit in hampering overclocking since you are using a pre-built PC. They usually skimp out on PSU's and just put something cheap in there. CowKing Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 some cards benefit from OCing different parts more, then just the core or shaders

You probably have a low quality 300W(ish) power supply that will impact on any overclock. What power supply is it? PaNewb Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Antec Earthwatts 600 watt hammer. Crucial Memory. like i sid just the mobo is stock. And i took the clocks from the review from here and tested it. Also went on my own 5-10 mhz and tested and even the slightest oc would lower my frame rates. Waco Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 That seems entirely wrong. Are you sure you're bringing up your 3D frequencies?

I looked in your profile and it looked like you have a pre-built with upgraded memory. Can you post a screen shot of the overclocking tool with your current settings? Thanks
