maj0rgamer Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 (edited) hey there, welcome to occ first, you should do some reading on overclocking cpu's if your're not familiar with the process as it has some basic principles that should be adhered to... it's not extremely complex however. you should bookmark this website as it's a fantastic place to download many free programs from... occt and prime95 are two programs you should download and install for overclocking (occt is a temperature monitoring program, but also may be used to stress test a system and prime 95 is a stress test program). that cpu should function up to 70C, but it is better to keep it as cool as possible... 50C or lower is a personal preference. make sure you have good cooling... what case and cpu cooler (heatsink/fan) is being used? overclocking is a trial and error process and there is no guarantee how much that particular cpu will or will not overclock to... there may be some folks on this forum however that may be able to give you a general idea. _TheAlexO Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 (edited) your using the Stock CPU HSF? Those arent bad, you might be able to get a couple hundred megahertz out of it. But your best bet is to invest in an Aftermarket HSF Edited October 8, 2009 by ShallowBay
Guest ajmatson Posted October 8, 2009 Posted October 8, 2009 As mentioned above I do not recommend overclocking with the stock AMD heatsinks. They will not keep your CPU cool enogh. Also the max temperature is not 70C it is 62C. With mine it gets unstable at 63C so keep it low or you will damage your processor.
