My first overclocking

Recommended Posts

Ok folks! My first CPU overclock has been made and proven to be stable!

Some Specs:

ASRock M3A790GXH/128M motherboard

Phenom II x3 720 (the activation of the fourth core was unsuccesful)

Info:

- I clocked the CPU to 3.5GHz

- Had to restart twice

- On Idle 29C

- On load something about 49C

- OC'd completely from BIOS

- CPU Voltage 1.4500

- CPU Multiplier 17.5

- NB Multiplier 13.0

- NB Voltage 1.2175

- One Bluescreen

- Cooled with stock cooler

What do you guys think of work from a newbie? Fail? Win? Comments?

Ps: I don't know how to overclock RAM (I know very little about this so don't laugh so hard) and I would need any advice relating to it

there's nothing to be ashamed about regarding not knowing how to overclock memory well, I'm usually leave memory tweaking alone unless it's what's holding me back. Looks good so far, but you should go higher :).

Make sure you run a few stress testing apps like Prime95, OCCT, or maybe IntelBurnTest (really watch your temps on this one especially)

Yeap, I will go higher when I get my new CPU cooler. Something like 4.2GHz is my goal. And I already did the OCCT test. As said, on load 49c =)

wow good overclock and good temp bro

did you have strees your cpu with some software??? like IVIYTH0S said

you can use OCCT, everest or ORTHOS for stress your cpu

and if your cpu can survive may be around 1 hour or more .. it can be use for our daily :D
