I plan to only lap the CPU. I don't need to play games at the highest settings available, just high enough to enjoy the game. I would really like to spend as less as possible, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This all runs to about $550. Add a monitor and extras, its about $700. What do you guys think? Anywhere I can save money? Should I go with DDR2 1066 instead of DDR2 800 RAM?
Verran Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Looks like a pretty good build. I can't say I'd change anything really. Also, DDR2-1066 would be a waste of money on that rig. Just stick to 800. EDIT### You may want to consider a 4850 for $10 more if you can handle the rebate.
b easy Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Nice! Good find. Is there a cheaper mobo that I can get that will work as well as the UD3R? I don't have a preference, but Gigabyte seems to make better mobos.
b easy Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Oh, someone mentioned the 4770 just wondering if that would fit in better than the 4830. I'm only going to OC the CPU.
Kingfisher Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Nice hardware. If I had to choose between a 4830, 4850 or. 4770, I would take the 4850. It would perform better than the other 2 and cost is minimal. I would like to think that any P45 board made by Gigabyte, Asus, or MSI would be just fine so look for the cheapest board with the features you need. Verran Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 If I had to choose between a 4830, 4850 or. 4770, I would take the 4850. The 4770 is nice but with 4850 prices as close as they are I think I'd rather just get the 4850, especially if you jump on the deal I linked. As for the board, I just did a quick skim on newegg and I didn't see anything that screamed at me. You could get a decent board for $5 or $10 less if you want, but when it comes to motherboards I would personally rather just spend a bit more for the best one in the price-range. I think your current one is a good pick.
b easy Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 So, if I go with a P43 UD3L instead of the P45 UD3R I picked, I should be fine right? The CPU will OC just as well?
b easy Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I was looking through newegg and found the 4850 for $85 with promo code and MIR. If I don't get it within the next 4 days, I'll definitely go for the one Verran showed me. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814102824
IVIYTH0S Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I'm not knowledgeable on the P43's and I wouldn't risk it unless someone else here knows if they clock well. Other than that all I can recommend perhaps is that they make 500GB harddrives for 5 dollars more, but the rest of the build looks great (and of course I agree in spending a tad more for a 4850 as well)
ClaymanVTW Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 (edited) Nice! However, i would go with a 4850 (as said above) for 10USD more. Also, if you can get that at 550, and no monitor, im gonna re-look over some parts of mine EDIT: also, i know that duo you selected is a grat CPU, ive ehard great things about it. But for the same/a slightly lower price (pissibley) have you thought of the AMD Pheon II X3 720 processor? its 3 cores (4th core unlockable) and start with a nice clock speed of 2.8ghz per core. EDIT AGAIN: lol, nm i thought it was the 8400 but still, tri core...good possible choice! Edited May 13, 2009 by ClaymanVTW

Maybe the 2.8ghz 7850 Kuma could give it a good fight but I think the e5200 may overtake it once overclocked
bbbrad Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Was fooling around on neweeg and made a pretty good build for 575$.
