feetfats Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I found this cooler http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku...mp;promoid=1001 I thought it might be fun to mess with cause it's so cheap $39.99 (normally $129.99) Is it a piece of crap? Could I use it on my Video card? Could I use it on my Video card and my processor at the same time? Will this thing fit my Processor? There are only 36 left so please let me know quick Thanks guys
razor Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 check out the OCC review of the CoolIT PURE that is a CPU cooler that fits Intel Skt. 775 and AMD Skt AM2 CPU/motherboards, so I think your Phenom II is good here. I'm sure it is possible for you to swap out the CPU block and swap in a GPU block for your video card, but there's no way you should run a CPU and a GPU on that unit. dollars to donuts, that PURE doesnt have the cooling capacity to effectively cool both. if you're really interested in moving to water cooling, check out the OCC watercooling info thread - lots of good info there. EDIT - heh, and I didnt answer the most important question... *NO* I dont think that the PURE would be the best idea for your quad-core. I know the OCC review featured a Q6600, but I wouldnt want to put my Q6600 in its hands. also worth mentioning is that in that review, I cant find the clock speed of the CPU when it ran the "OC idle/load" tests. you should look into something more substantial.
