JBags Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Hey guys, I'm relatively new to overclocking, been kinda scared i might fry something, I admit. But I'm giving it a try now, and was just wondering if any overclock can prevent Windows from booting? I didnt do anything big, just gradually raised the FSB to 220, vcore from 1.35v (default) to 1.46v. It'll POST and detect my raid 0, but it reboots when it goes to load Windows. Am I doing anything wrong here? Maybe I'm setting the Vcore too high for a mere 20Hz increase? I dunno. Any help you guys have is appreciated. Rig is in my sig. Thanks! I'm not realy familure with AMD processors but to answer your question, yes and overclock can cause windows to fail to load... and 20hz on on the core can be quite a bit of an increase depending on the multiplyer. I would suggest trying 5Hz increases check for stability, if it passes then raising it again by 5. when it fails look at the voltages (if temps are still reasonable bump them up.. not sure what the limit is on that cpu though) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

But i've been meaning to give you all an update on this, and just kept putting it off (procrastination ftw!) and I have another question related to this. So, I took Waco's suggestion and ran my DDR400 at DDR333 speeds and managed to OC 218mhz, giving me a ~2.4GHz (x11 multi), lowered the voltage to like 1.4v. Booted, ran Prime, stable for 12+ hours. ^_^ So, decided to try for 220Mhz fsb.. Windows booted up, however, my primary monitor (I have two) goes blank. It's not like a no signal, it's on and it has that lightish tint from the backlight, but it's not showing my desktop or wallpaper or anything, just black. My secondary monitor is fine, and the primary displays the POST and all that leading up to that Windows Vista "circle" logo. I have not tried to disconnect my secondary yet. My desktop is at home and I'm an hour away at college, so i only really have weekends to fiddle with it. otherwise i would have posted this a lot sooner. Anyway, anyone got any ideas?
