estorilroc Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/intel_core_i7/ looked through this and didn't see the i7 940 OC, is it not OC friendly or just not enough room in the review?

BKen Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/intel_core_i7/4.htm scroll down past setup to Overclocking. I'm assuming you meant the I7 965 Extreme, or the I7 920.
estorilroc Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 no, I meant the 940 b/c that's what I have.
BKen Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 no, I meant the 940 b/c that's what I have. They didn't review the I7 940, just the 965 and the 920. Can't show overclocking results for a chip they don't have.
ebarone Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 AFAIK, the 940s are the same as 920s, just they came out of the batch better. They probably perform identically when clocked the same, so OCing yours shouldnt be any problem. Basically, I dont think the 940 was excluded from the review because of poor OC performance. ccokeman Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Add the baseclock that both can reach and couple that with the higher multiplier and it should do somewhere around 4.0 on air (Really good air)
