Hitch Itch Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I7-920, asus p6t deluxe, 6 gig tri channel ocz plztinum 1333 AI tweaker in manual mode, bclk set to 167, dram mhz set to 1339mhz, everything else in auto. This is my first try at oc, I ran the test for about 20 mintes, no errors, no lock ups, but that cpu temp at 75c scares me, Is that to high? (Intel spec for this cpu says 100c max temp) Will any real world program every stress and heat the cpu up like that? after playing left 4 dead for about 1 hour all settings on max real temp showed a cpu temp of 61c does the oc look ok? and the prime test/temps? tx Ken
a93j202k Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 The i7's do run a little hot, so you'll be fine. What cooler are you using?
TheScavenger Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 I think your temps are fine. The Core i7 processors seem to be running a lot hotter than the Core 2 stuff.
Hitch Itch Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 right now Im running the stock cooler that came with the cpu, I am thinking of getting a low cost aftermarket cooler that will drop my temps back into the 60c+- range while in the prime test artic cooling and asus makes one that uses the pushpin style attachment just like the stock coolers, so the change out will be a breeze, no R&R of my mobo. heres a pic of the rig

TheScavenger Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 The rig looks good! Did you pick up that PCP&C PSU when they were on sale?
