Paradax Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 If I'm not mistaken(I'm an AMD guy) the q6600 has a solid history of OC'ing well into the 3GHz range so unless you want to try to take a Core 2 Duo into the 4GHZ+ range I'd say keep the q660and OC it a bit. and like others have said newer stuff keeps utilizing more than two cores more and more often. Bottom line stick with the Quad
ir_cow Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 stock q6600 beats a 3.2ghz duo is so many apps and once its OCed to 3ghz (which is extremely simple as in raise the FSB to 333) you outperform its 2:1.
Waco Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 The E8400 can beat quad cores, but only when it is overclocked to like 4ghz+, as I have seen in your other threads you don't have AC, and your temperatures aren't very low, so it would be useless for you. You shouldn't waste your time upgrading your computer when you can't even afford AC. Agreed 100%.
