troy5061 Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 (edited) Anyone have this board? Thoughts on it? I really like the DFI DK P35 but I figure for the same money I might as well get a P45. So im looking at these few leaning towards the Asus. 1st choice: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813131295 2nd choice: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128345 3rd choice: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813138127 I like them all but the Biostar doenst have solid caps which is kind of a turn off. Is there a major difference between P35 and P45 in OC abilities? If there is not I might as well go for the DFI board I like. Im trying to stick with a board with only 1 PCIE slot. Although I dont like where the power connector is located on the Asus. Newegg might just have made the choice easier the DFI DK p35 is now out of stock. damian Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 those boards are a bit low end, you might be better off with the DFI P35, i usually recommend P45's but those boards aren't all that great.

Yea I cant seem to find any reviews for the P5Q. I can find them for its bigger brothers the Pro, Deluxe and so on and it gets awesome reviews. Won't it be pretty much the same thing except for 2 PCIE slots and crossfire support? I dont want to pay for something im not going to use so having 2 PCIE slots is just a waste to me so theres no point in buying the Deluxe or Pro if thats all it brings to the table. troy5061 Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 what are you planned specs? E8600 or Q9550 If I go with the E8600 id like to see 4.5-5.0ghz. The quad Id like to see 3.4ghz. 4GB Crucial Ballistix Tracers DDR 800mhz XFX 8800 Ultra 600w ultra Psu Reviewers were getting over 500 fsb with the P5Q Pro/Deluxe. Which 500x10 on the E8600 would be A ok with me.
damian Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 (edited) 4.5-5.0GHz on what? water cooling, DICE for testing, what do you want for a 24/7 overclock? you might need a mid-higher end board for those kind of clocks Edited September 16, 2008 by damian
