SebringTech Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Hello, I currently have a DFI LanParty DK P35 board coupled with a Q6600 CPU. I have it set in bios at what should be running at 3.5 ghz, 389 x 9. However, CoreTemp shows a constant low temperature of 30*c, and is showing the cpu mult being 6x... I don't understand why it keeps switching between the two, as it's obviously running at the 6x to get the temps that low. I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bit, but the new version of CoreTemp said it was Vista compatible. I looked through the bios, which is quite complicated, and disabled any thing that looked like a energy saving or temperature related feature other than the temp monitoring and shutdown temp. I've tried looking on the net at how to OC on this board, but so far haven't really come up with much. Below is a pic of CoreTemp showing the 6x mult when it should be 9x. Any ideas? I'm new to DFI but I've been trying to figure out the massive array of OC options.

My_Inner_Fred Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Strange my process also goes to x6 whenever i overclock.... Then it skips to x9 again... I use CPU-Z
SebringTech Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 (edited) I'll try Everest. I didn't have this problem with my previous board, but that board didn't have some features I wanted. Maybe someone might have a guess as to what is causing the multiplier to switch back and fourth? cuzz Inner Fred you're using a different board company, as well as a completely different chipset. So.. that makes me really wonder what would be causing this issue. Inner Fred are you using XP or Vista? I would still be using XP, but there were too many problems I had with XP Pro 64 Bit, where as aside from the weird OC results, Vista 64Bit seems to be okay with compatibility. SebringTech Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 (edited) According to Everest Ultimate Edition 4.20 it's running the 389 mhz x 6 multiplier... and it doesn't change from x6 Edit: it does switch back and fourth.. wow that's really annoying. So now I need to find the cause of why its not a constant multiplier value. Edited August 27, 2008 by SebringTech
Praz Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 C1E set to disabled.
malmsteenisgod Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 (edited) I believe you're talking about C1E which Praz mentioned. It's a powersaving option. When your computer isn't under load it will drop the multiplier to 6 in order to save some power, and who doesn't love that? SebringTech Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 oh wow thanks! I had a suspicion it was some sort of power save option, but I wasn't sure what ones were left. Now I can happily sit and enjoy the true overclock.. Well I suppose it was before, but yea not constantly.

Praz Posted August 27, 2008 Posted August 27, 2008 Really no reason not to use C1E, especially on a DFI board. I'm running a JR P45 right now at 400x10, 1.18 VCORE. At idle the CPU is at 2400MHz, 1.06 VCORE.
