Compxpert Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Man I need a better job I can't afford more than the 4870's and the Ultra 120 extreme + fan.
philbrown23 Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Even if you had a full size fridge/freezer, this still wouldn't work, unless the heat exchanger on the back of the fridge was actively cooled, maybe the compressor too... otherwise the fridge would overheat/cut out/set on fire I was talking about just an insulated cooler that you add ice and water to and cover a bare rad up with the ice and water, it works. Compxpert Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 Or I could do this as I do already have an A/C unit. http://forums.overclockersclub.com/index.p...st&p=774148 You think condensation would be a problem? As this is only 2000BTU's as compared to 8000BTU's which may not be enough.
Rehit Posted July 18, 2008 Posted July 18, 2008 that is my rig from the last war... there are no condensation problems as long as the PC is the highest thing in the loop. you also do not leave the AC running to the PC when you are not actively benching. i will have the same type of set up this time around but my rig will be in my new Tech Station. i will route the ducting directly to the input side of the dual Panaflo Ultra fans. at this point it is the... Xeon E3110 (been to 4.9GHZ) Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L OCZ GameXStream 700 TRUE 120 Extreme (Dual Panaflo Ultra push-pull) 2 gigs Corsair Dominator 1066 2 74 GB Raptors RAID0 3870X2 Sunbeam RHK-EX-SV Rheobus-Extreme fan controller pure bench set up. nothing but the OS (XP and Vista 64) and bench programs will be installed. hopefully i will finally get around to assembling it in the next week or so. i hate to build them early as i tend to stretch them out before the wars begin, taking away the fun of the actual competition...
