C_A Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 My PC died a couple of days ago (see sig for specs). The monitor cut itself off in mid-operation and has not been back on since. After rebooting, it won't post. With one stick in the outer-most orange slot, I'm getting 1 LED and 1 long beep on bootup. I've tried the other stick in that slot as well as completely swapping out the RAM and video card, and clearing the CMOS, but I'm not having any luck. And yes, I've swapped the monitor too. Haha. Any ideas? Thanks a lot.
SpeedEuphoria Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Yep most likely cause is the PSU died especially since you tried a couple things. I would try to borrow a good recommended PSU to test.
Sharp Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Hello, Remove your gfx card and power the pc, what happens to the LEDs? Still the same could mean that the gfx card is at fault.
BDore Posted March 22, 2008 Posted March 22, 2008 I'm having the exact same problem, but I'm ona a NF4 SLI-DR. The story: Bought the second 8800gt today, everything was working fine. Set it all up, booted into windows but second card was not recognized in device manager. Set it all back to one card config (which was working) and now this. Stripped down the system already...i'm really really annoyed about this one. One moment I'm almost in heaven now complete hell. Clearing cmos right now... _________________________ Just created a topic about this: http://www.diy-street.com/forum/showthread...6324#post786324
cegras Posted March 23, 2008 Posted March 23, 2008 According to the PCI-E compatibility thread, the newer pcie2.0 nvidia cards don't like being run in x8 mode. So you can only run one, x16, top slot.
dming Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 I recently had the same problem as well... and after trying many different things, from resetting CMOS to dusting out my case to make sure there is no short any where, I now have another problem: Even with no graphics card, my PC posts and would go on merrily booting into Windows. If I do insert a graphics card I have weird issues: 1) Intermittent hard freezes 2) Changing the screen resolution requires a restart (normally never did for me) 3) Screen sometimes flash (turns off and back on again) and I lose control during this time So have any of you had similar problems like this? I'm thinking at this point it's a motherboard issue but could it also be PSU related? Thanks!
red930 Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 ^^^ Gonna need more information than that man, what hardware are you using? Could be power supply, drivers, mobo, unstable overclock, pretty much anything right now.
