SpeedEuphoria Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 it may be the limit? are you using sp2004 or prime 95? sp3004 can be difficult sometimes
izallica Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 i use sp2004, but it so easy to boot at 3GHz and all game i play (crysis, company o heroes) not crashing. how about my psu (acbel400 watt) is it enough to my opty OC'ing to 3GHz ? Voltes-5 Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 Your psu may not be able to run the load for what you are asking for it to do. I'd suggest a better one that you pick from the reccomended psu list thread. Seeing that you can boot with 3.0 is promising, on air to boot, I think thats impressive. I had a couple of Opty's mysef and could not even pass 2.81, lol.
SpeedEuphoria Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 I would agree that your PSU may limit you. Especially if you add a newer video card and/or more HD's. You wont know till you try a higher powered psu, its very possibly it will help. How long till it fails SP2004?, If its within 30 minutes then many times its memory settings. PSU or my Opty is bad ?
MACarter02 Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 If its within 30 minutes then many times its memory settings. What's your memory divider set at?
SpeedEuphoria Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 0 second  OMGbut all game i playing not crashing and when i torture with Everest stability test for CPU full load at 100% it's still fine for 30 minutes. what do you think about that's ? PSU or my Opty is bad ? I would say its the memory settings, try loosening them or using a divider and try. Also you should try the new prime95 as sometimes sp2004 has issues and is buggy. izallica Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 What's your memory divider set at? 150 so memory run at 250 3-4-3-8 1T 2.67 v I would say its the memory settings, try loosening them or using a divider and try. Also you should try the new prime95 as sometimes sp2004 has issues and is buggy. ok i will try later at home
SpeedEuphoria Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 possibly try more voltage for the mem also. Also sometimes certain dividers dont work well with certain combos and bios's, so you may try a lower divider or a different bios(to see if that divider works better on another bios) Also if you look at the dual core opteron thread you'll find that many opterons are picky about certain memory settings(max async latency and read preamble). For me 10.0/7.0 works others have found 10.5/7.5,10.5/7.0,10/7.5, 9.0/7.0, ect.., sp you may want to mess with those specific settings(I used memset to change in window to test them easier, then changed in bios after I found the combo that worked) what are your temps, idle/load?
