radodrill Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 I think dual GPUs in a single "card" is a great idea as long as the appropriate drivers are available when it hits the shelves.
Yukon Trooper Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Been following this and ATI's similar offering the 3870 X2. It's 2 GPU's on a single PCB. Not two PCB's made into one card like the GX2. Hopefully second place shows some low retail prices. What's unfortunate about the whole thing though, is that Nvidia and ATI are simply using current tech to make these cards. True next gen cards such as the 9800GTX have release estimates of Q3.

Since they're still showing improved cards I'd much rather see them take their time and do things right on their new cards before jumping the gun on "new tech". They've spent several years on it to be sure, another couple of months isn't going to hurt anybody.

krazypoloc Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 I was bored. Saw a few other members on this site playing with this so I thought why not. lol! Wouldn't the Toslink connection on the 9800 be an optical in? Like a passthrough for HDMI functionality? I mean unless you have an Nvidia chipset I don't see how you would get audio to get to an optical, or HDMI out through the PCI-Express interface.....and if you did it seems like you would have some signal degradation from all the noise of running HD audio through a cluttered and busy bridge.
