ArchVile Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 i know for a fact that my power supply is more than enough to handle one of these cards. i got the 2900pro today and when i plug in the card and the power connectors my computer won't even power on. no fans spin up, nothing. also if anyone has a 2900xt or pro and the corsair 620 PSU, did you notice that it was really hard to plug the 8 pin connector in? anyway even when i took off the 8 pin connector the computer spins up but i get a beep code. beeeeep beep beep :-) any idea's? radodrill Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Something sounds fishy; it shouldn't be hard to connect the power connectors to the GFX card. Praz Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Radodrill pretty much solved the problem. The video card is most likely dead. The eight pin connector is for the motherboard. The 8-pin EPS connectors are keyed & pinned differently than the 8-pin PCI-e. If it was the EPS connector that you connected to the GFX card; then Praz is right that you probably fried the card. Praz Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 There is no right way. The connector you used was meant to plug into the motherboard not the video card. This is the plug you used. This is the plug the card is intended to use. The polarity is reversed between the two. You fed 12 volts to the ground side of the card.
