Coors Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Oh...and I left it at the default setting. Isn't that only like half power or something like that?
Acarrera Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I suggest that you leave it right where you have it. I tried to improve the cooling on mine and, even though I thought I was being ultra-careful, I jacked up the pot and it no longer had a stop, either up or down. It was pure hell getting it back to where it was to start with. The factory setting is pretty darned optimal and a buddy of mine had the same experience. "The biggest enemy of good is better." OldGuy Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 You need to pick up a cheapy jewelers screwdriver kit...too late now of course :tooth: Mine is cranked. Made no difference in sound level but definitely made a difference in temps. Mine is just plain loud. Drowns out all other fan noise...I suspect I just got a bumm unit in that regard. I have a question in to tech support as mine has quite a lot of air in the lines after almost a year of abuse. That or I just never noticed... I suggest that you leave it right where you have it. Coors Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Yeah I noticed that too. It was louder than I expected but no louder than the watercooling I used in my other rig. Hey OldGuy....wheres those pics at....I wanna see those baby's in action:drool:

I have a question in to tech support as mine has quite a lot of air in the lines after almost a year of abuse. That or I just never noticed... Both of the units (one is mine) that I have seen in action have had a good bit of air in the lines from day one and, I assume, that it is OK. I used a tiny screwdriver, damn it, but I didn't know how much torque to apply to the left. I believe that mine was factory-set all the way to the left. Coolit has replaced many control modules that were buggered up on adjustment and I'm sure they would have replaced mine, but I was able to get it set like I wanted. Yep, they are not silent but this rig is quite compared to my old 2.6 GHz 3700+ on air. OG, you were my inspiration to try the Freezone and also the cracked 975X/G Sli drivers. That was big fun! OldGuy Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Been consumed with benching for the OCZ HWbot team last couple of nights. I've cast off my orthos stable persona and gone completely nuts I'll make a point of posting some pics this evening... Just got this repsonse from Coolitsystems regarding air in the lines: Dear Mr. Jamison, Although there should be little or no air in a system, we have tested units with up to 6 inches of contiguous air in the lines and found no adverse affect on performance. Of course being that both the Freezone and Eliminator models are sealed systems, there should be no additional air entering the lines over time. If you have not seen any leaking around the pump valve or the connector barbs, then I would assume that the air must have been in the lines from the time of manufacture. It is possible that air becomes trapped in the pump reservoir during manufacturing, and will only become apparent during operation. Our QC is designed to avoid this issue, but we have observed rare instances of up to 3 inches of air in the system. We have been very aggressive at correcting this problem at the source of manufacturing because as I said earlier, it does not compromise performance, but it is certainly not desirable. Please advise as to whether you have observed any leak in the system, and whether we need to initiate an RMA process to replace the unit. Thank you, -- Sean Mutlow Technical Specialist www.coolitsystems.com Thought this would be helpful for any observing any air in their lines. They responded to my query in less than two hours. Another thing. When I was considering C2D/AM2 I called them up and talked to the President and told him my unit was released before AM2. He asked me to send him an email with my name and address and within the hour I had a tracking number for overnight delivery of an AM2 mounting clip...Good stuff Yeah I noticed that too. It was louder than I expected but no louder than the watercooling I used in my other rig. OldGuy Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Freezone and Eliminator mounted in modified Stacker 810 case... Instead of hijacking this thread I'll make another in the case mod section to show how it was done and what is needed... And yessiree!!! She cools the chipset most Fantasmagorically. Been fooling around at 4ghz (not orthos stable) having a good ol time

Coors Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 update: 3204mhz @ 1.5 Idle=13C (in the morning) Load= 45C (I raised it to 1.5 after it failed orthos at 1.4 just for the sake of it not failing while I slept)
Coors Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 I just ran 3.3ghz and my load temps averaged between 52-54C
Acarrera Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Al, Are you Priming with the side panel off or on? How are your NB and 8800 temps? Having any fun?
