wardog Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 That's the good stepping yeah, CABGE? Good or otherwise, in the "wild' that's the only 150 stepping you'll most probably find, CABGE 0532MPMW's. Oh, and do drop the HTT to 4x also.
Guest DasFox Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Ok I'm running: CPU Voltage = 1.40 DRAM Voltage = 2.7 CPU Multi = 12x DRAM Frequency = DDR400 (1:1) HTT/FSB = 210 Timings = 2.5-3-2-5 Of course this will run, hehe, CPU 2520. wardog Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Ok I'm running: CPU Voltage = 1.40 DRAM Voltage = 2.7 CPU Multi = 12x DRAM Frequency = DDR400 (1:1) HTT/FSB = 210 Timings = 2.5-3-2-5 Of course this will run, hehe, CPU 2520. Is your ram OCZ4002048ELDCPE-K and your still on AUTO settings? That would explain the CAS of 2.5. If that is your ram it'll do ~220 at a CAS of 2 using 2.7v. Past those and you'd need 2.5 but I'd highly suggest manually editing these numbers in the BIOS regardless. Using the above change HTT/FSB to 215, and test. If it tests ok, then HTT/FSB = 217 If it tests ok, then HTT/FSB = 220 But remember it's at or just under 220 that you'll need a mem divider. And anything above 2.7v-2.75v on the ram provides diminishing results. They don't care for much above 2.7v and are known to error out with 2.75v. Guest DasFox Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 - wardog - I sent you a PM. By the way I thought for doing an overclock it's better to have lower CAS? So that is why I left it at 2.5 THANKS
Guest DasFox Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 By the way with all these setting you're showing me, I've done all these before, well actually not a 12x Multi I used a lower one, but I don't see how that's going to change anything. Anyhow maybe you've got a plan once I hit the WALL. THANKS
Guest DasFox Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Cas 2.5-3-2-5 no good? Again I thought higher timings where suppose to be better for overclocks? The timings suggested by OCZ is 2-3-2-
Guest DasFox Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Ok I'm running: CPU Voltage = 1.46 DRAM Voltage = 2.7 CPU Multi = 12x DRAM Frequency = DDR333 HTT/FSB = 220 Timings = 2-3-2-5 Not sure I can bump it back up to DDR400, but I also thought you lower the Dram as well when you overclock? THANKS
Guest DasFox Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 This is where I've hit the wall, anymore bumping the FSB and she'll croak, unless I push the volts, or I have to change the Ram timings. Hmm
wardog Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 , ... I've done all these before, well actually not a 12x Multi ... Yea, you sure did. At a whopping 1.52v to gain only 140 on the FSB from where your at NOW. Stay away from the .5(1/2) multis and remember that ram tops at ~220. Guest DasFox Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 - wardog - sent ya a PM I found the HyperTransport multiplier is that what you meant by placing the HT 4x? ram tops at ~220 what CAS is that? 2.2.2.0 ? THANKS
Guest DasFox Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 BTW - wardog - THANKS
wardog Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 This is where I've hit the wall, anymore bumping the FSB and she'll croak, unless I push the volts, or I have to change the Ram timings. Your ram timings are fine. Don't fiddle with 'em. At DDR333, 220 and 12 they're still underclocked to 176. Lots of room to go yet. Matter of fact 2.6v would be fine at current settings. 2.7 is wasting till ~220. Now drop your 12x down to 11x and start bumping the HTT/FSB again and see where she chokes. And as for your inquisitiveness concerning CAS settings, you're not yet OC'ing the ram. As I said earlier 2-3-2-5 should last you into ~220.
