Xeon Posted November 8, 2003 Posted November 8, 2003 Hello everyone, I would like to know what the big difference is between EL and Non EL Memory. Specifically what it means from a performance and O'clocking standpoint. Do any of you have links to articles I can read or explain to me what real difference is between these two? Thanks for your reply in advance. Xeon
Pizoi Posted November 8, 2003 Posted November 8, 2003 I found a review that d3 posted here in July regarding EL ram. It doesn't go into much detail, but the PC3200 EL chip that was used was able to hit 426mhz with really tight timings which is pretty impressive. I googled for more info, but i'm feeling lazy today so I didn't get far. Anyways, here's the link for that review: http://www.overclockercafe.com/Reviews/mem...R400/index.html
smithy Posted November 8, 2003 Posted November 8, 2003 I read somewhere that the EL DDR lets you run at cas at CL2 vs CL2.5's. Lower the cas the better the performance. It is really restricted to labeling for OCZ brands. Mushkin uses Levels for their labeling. It just a marketing term- I would read reviews from people who own the memory and get their opinions of what is good or not.
