thejamesvolta Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Does it matter whether or not I have my RAM in channel A or B. Right now it is in B (furthest away from CPU) for better cooling. I know with some Lan Parties I've read that one channel is more stable than the other. Is this true for my board as well? Thanks!!! red930 Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 Yes, in some cases since I've noticed my UCCC memory modules not booting, low overclock frequencies when placed in the yellow dual channel slots. When i do use the orange slots everything is well. Might want to spend some time testing this matter, good luck!
thejamesvolta Posted October 17, 2006 Posted October 17, 2006 I can get my ram up to about 830 Mhz in the channel it's in. It's CPU stability/higher overclock I'm wondering about. I guess I have some testing to do.
d-mart Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 old bios? yes, latest bios? nope. Channel B less stable than channel A in reaching higher frequency.

Guest Dice Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 I think I have the same RAM as you, I've been using them in the furthest slot since I installed them. Maybe 5-5-5 timings could help you get a much higher frequency ? Mine do DDR2 800 1T and 900 2T with 5-5-5-
BobingAbout Posted October 29, 2006 Posted October 29, 2006 i have the same problem. single stick, it doesn't matter where i put it, but 2 sticks for duel channel, yellow slots, unstable, orange slots stable, placing 1 in yellow and 1 in orange results in stable, but only single channel mode(which is odd, because on my old "Gigabyte" board, it didn't matter what you placed where, if you placed something in bank A and something in bank B, it was duel channeled, even if the sticks were different sizes. i currently have a pair of 512 value select in bank 1 and a stick of 1G XMS in bank 2, however it is an old DDR Socket A board). thejamesvolta Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 I've been able to get my ram up to 870 with 4-5-5-12 timings, but it won't boot after that. I really like this ram, but want to upgrade to DDR2 900, newegg has a special on them right now.
