RAM Channel effect stability?

Recommended Posts

Does it matter whether or not I have my RAM in channel A or B. Right now it is in B (furthest away from CPU) for better cooling. I know with some Lan Parties I've read that one channel is more stable than the other. Is this true for my board as well? Thanks!!!

Yes, in some cases since I've noticed my UCCC memory modules not booting, low overclock frequencies when placed in the yellow dual channel slots. When i do use the orange slots everything is well. Might want to spend some time testing this matter, good luck!

I think I have the same RAM as you, I've been using them in the furthest slot since I installed them. Maybe 5-5-5 timings could help you get a much higher frequency ? Mine do DDR2 800 1T and 900 2T with 5-5-5-12

i have the same problem. single stick, it doesn't matter where i put it, but 2 sticks for duel channel, yellow slots, unstable, orange slots stable, placing 1 in yellow and 1 in orange results in stable, but only single channel mode(which is odd, because on my old "Gigabyte" board, it didn't matter what you placed where, if you placed something in bank A and something in bank B, it was duel channeled, even if the sticks were different sizes. i currently have a pair of 512 value select in bank 1 and a stick of 1G XMS in bank 2, however it is an old DDR Socket A board).
