tasr Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 Mustang Welcome to DFI-Street If you are going to overclock you should first read this; The Definitive DFI AMD Overclocking Guide. Then re-read it, and you will be surprised how much more info you’ll pick up. Even if you’re not overclocking there is still a lot of pertinent information that you could use. When overclocking what seems to help for me is I like to use a 939 Database Template to record and display my results. Search the Stock Speed Database (SSDB) and Overclocking Database (OCDB) for timings and overclocking settings. You can get some ideas there. I’m not sure of your PSU per your signature. You also need ALL four power connectors plugged into the motherboard. These are; 24-pin main power connector 4-pin 12v secondary connector or EPS 4-pin 5v/12v molex connection or HDD-type 4-pin 5v/12v floppy connection or FDD-type Check this link out Recommended! - NF4 Ultra/SLI Mobos:PowerSupplies Start by Have you tested your memory or rig for stability? Enabling MemTest86+ in the BIOS and run test #5 and #8 for 5-10 passes. Then you can run all tests over night. For a single core Prime95 I would do a blend test; Open Prime95 --> Options --> Torture Test --> Blend Test --> OK This will test both CPU and memory. º¿º
h_Us3r Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 I would do a search in AMD 64-bit Archive for RGONE'S manual, and also 1000HT is actually 1000 x 2(2000) so your in good shape. PS Trim down the sig a little:D
Mustang Posted August 4, 2006 Posted August 4, 2006 thans for the link , Overclocking is not my what I want , I only whant to set the default chip settings , my chip is the amd Athlon 3800 newcastle ,tht is running 42 idle and 62 in games , I whant to know if that temperatures are correct thanks a lot
h_Us3r Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 No, they should be around mid - low 30's idle and in the high 30's/ low 40's on load. Is it hot where you are?
RubberDuck Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 tht is running 42 idle and 62 in games , I whant to know if that temperatures are correct thanks a lot That seems way to high. I would take the HS off and then reseat it. For stock (like the guys above me said) it should be high 30's/ low 40's on load. Mine runs at 45c at 316*9= 2.8Ghz with 1.42v
h_Us3r Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 That seems way to high. I would take the HS off and then reseat it. For stock (like the guys above me said) it should be high 30's/ low 40's on load. Mine runs at 45c at 316*9= 2.8Ghz with 1.42v Newcastles are a little different, since they run on 130nm process they need more volts. For example, a 3800+(newcastle) stock VCORE is 1.45, after using 110% on CPU VID SPECIAL CONTROL it runs at 1.55. An Opty's stock VCORE is 1.35 - 1.4. So for him to push a 2.6 OC he would need at least 1.55, but he can push the VCORE to 1.7 on air safely; while doing that on Opty will kill it. I loved mine for all intents and purposes, it was just time for her to retire;D
RubberDuck Posted August 5, 2006 Posted August 5, 2006 Ok sorry. My FX-55 runs at stock 1.55v with the stock heatsink at 50c fully loaded 24/7. IMHO I would still try and reseat the heatsink. Those temps seem way to high to me.
