eNgoT Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 My NF4 Ultra-D will only work with BIOS 310. I've tried bioses 623-3 last year and 406 recently and both will give me LEDs of Death (4 of 'em). I had to hot swap my eprom just to be able to go back to bios 310. I also tried a new eprom chip from another Ultra-D but still got stuck leds. Any idea fellas? centy Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Are you doing a full CMOS clear after flashing to a different BIOS? Are you trying to load your settings from CMOS reloaded, if so DON'T you'll need to manually set the options again if you have changed bios. E-ROD Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 I actually have the same problem you do and can't figure out why. I have flashed using TMODS CD with no issues, clear CMOS, set defaults, but my SLI-DR refuses to boot with any bios except the 3/10. I will post if any resolution is found. eNgoT Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 @centy Yes I did a full cmos clear and No I'm not loading from CMOS reloaded. I'm, using all default setting. @E-ROD If your board is still under warranty, Do have it replaced. I honestly believe we got a defective board. I only found out about it after my warranty lapsed. The thing is I took the eprom (just flashed to 406) from the defective NF4 UT-D, placed it on a second fully functional UT-D, and the second UT-D still worked fine. Now, I took the eprom (bios 623) from the functional UT-D, placed it on the defective board, and got 4 lit leds again. Obviously the eproms are not corrupt since they work on the second board. There's definitely something wrong with the mobo itself. It's not a corrupt eprom/bios/cmos.
EdLSmith Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 You may have a bad battery. New batteries have been known to be defective. You may have left the CMos jumper in the clear position.
Silk Posted July 6, 2006 Posted July 6, 2006 I also have the same problem. I have tried every subsequent BIOS without any luck. I don't know why 3/10 is the only one that sort of works for me. I would RMA mine but with a baby in the house I haven't had much time to remove the mobo.
