VectorOmega Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Firstly what is the PWM IC? And secondly what are the safe operating temps of this device. I have the ITE SmartGaurdian installed that came with my Ultra-D and I am getting a red line warning on my PWM IC at 50.0C with STOCK cooling on running duel Prime95 Torture... Any thoughts? Just looking to learn more about this amazing mobo! Thanks, Vector
SoyoJoe Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 Thats about normal for a heavy loaded system, when it gets close to 60c is when i would start to freak out. Just point a fan at it.

Wildstaroct Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 haha, what is "it" though? I dont know what it looks like.... If you have an extra fan lying around, mount it to blow on PWN like so. If you've got an extra 3-pin fan header that is controllable by BIOS, even better since you can regulate fan speed. Mine goes about 1000 rpm which isn't even audible. And it reduced PWM temps by 10C+.
tasr Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 VectorOmega, Firstly what is the PWM IC?This is what the Pulse-width modulation integrated circuit (PWMIC) is. Read this Temps Too High? to get some good info about temperatures. Also go into the BIOS, under PC health and set fan to full at 40c. Hope this helps. tasr
