southmine Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 My Redline has flatlined, and I can't get into my BIOS to lower the voltage. Will normal ram take 3.3v long enough to get me into my BIOS to change settings, or will it fry immediately? If not, is there a workaround? I don't think anyone even makes high voltage ram anymore do they?
Nehil Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 How about resetting the BIOS?
Oceanborn Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 If you clear the CMOS with the jumper before installing the new memory you don't risk frying anything as it puts the memory and everything else to the default settings
southmine Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 @ Nehil-I can't get into the BIOS. So just move JP17 back to 1-2, clear CMOS and I'm good?
red930 Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 @ Nehil-I can't get into the BIOS.So just move JP17 back to 1-2, clear CMOS and I'm good? Should be yeah. Clear it for a couple minutes to be sure but it'll default around 2.7-2.8 probably then. After that I'd shut it down and switch the 4v jumper back. Like technodanvan said be sure to clear the cmos good.. I would even take out the battery while clearing the cmos just to be sure..
