v8vega350 Posted March 18, 2002 Posted March 18, 2002 i have a copper heatsink and the contact area isnt very shiny and i am wondering if polishing it with a polishing compound would make it cool any diffrent
Original9 Posted March 18, 2002 Posted March 18, 2002 Probably not. Though, I wouldn't mess with the heatsink. It's made the way it is and thats how the company intended to work right. It's possible that it would mess with the cooling.
Adam Posted March 19, 2002 Posted March 19, 2002 It is good to clean the heatsink up if you are changing it or applying the Quich Silver!! Clean it with a non-oil based product...just regular isopropyl rubbing alcohol is the easiest thing to use!! Dont leave any fingerprints either if you want it to be as effecient as possible!! It will never be totally clean because the microscopic allies will have the previously used compound!! Same goes with the cpu core.....
