It's SP2, correct.

I also cannot activate it anymore as I presumed my installation would be stable twice last night and activated it twice, along with the twice previous to this about a month ago.

Oh dear, not an issue at the moment though.

Any kind of diagnostic utility for graphics cards?

Sometimes when I boot I get a completely jumbled up screen and it's totally corrupt (not sure if these are called artifacts, they go away after a few boots).

You usually get artifacts when running 3d mode not @startup. i'd power down check gfx card is seated properly & any power connection is secure. If it persists may be worth trying other slot, this shouldn't cause a performance hit

So you still have to install completely the 6.70 drivers & gdx drivers yes??

I'm waiting on the second loop of my diagnostic program to finish. About midnight, right after Desperate Housewives; perfect :).

The power connector is a Y-splitter. I can connect one of these to the g-card, one of these to the power supply and one of these to another component (my case fan, which is connected to another case fan), is that OK?

I only had one floppy drive connector with my power supply so I can't have my mobo connector and my floppy drive connected at the same time, it hasn't seemed to matter too much at the moment. I don't have my floppy connected unless I'm memtesting/ running diagnostics.

Hi Marky,

1) If you can have your gfx on a seperate lead. with your fans etc on another.

2) Floppy connecter, you can get molex to floppy adaper cables Floppy Splitter Cable RB512

3) Does it matter that I didn't clear BIOS after last BIOS flash? - you should be ok.

4)

I'm on 623-3, can I "flash" to 623-3 again?
?? is there a typo there not sure why u would want to.

I was just flashing again to ensure it wasn't corrupt.

1) Yeah I'll leave the other molex free.

2) OK, thanks.

3) Cheers.

4) Above.

Right, followed Sharp's guide, did everything that it said.

On install, had numerous different BSODs.

Tried RAM in yellow slots - "PAGEFAULT" BSOD.

Oh God, this is really annoying. How do I check SMART status of my Hard Disk.

It's diagnostic test came up fine yesterday (HUTIL.exe)

Going to need to give this to a professional to substitute some parts in, I think.

I installed Windows with one stick of RAM. OK. Put in the other, few boots, got drivers installed OK. Put in the other stick and turned on USB and MAC LAN and then a BSOD!

Damnit.

Try it again later when I've calmed down a bit with MAC LAN/USB off.

Try & do things so you have some certainty re components:-

had u verified that the 1 module was stable with memtest. - If so complete fully the task of installing xp including all drivers. Then check that u can add the 2nd stick & its stable.

You are using 2 sticks ??

Put in the other, few boots, got drivers installed OK. Put in the other stick
confuses me thats 3 sticks ??

What drivers did u install see sharps guide

Do not install the nvidia firewall/network access manager software

Do not install the IDE SW driver

may be the cause of the BSOD

you might also try the Marvell lan drivers see Integrated Marvell Gigabit-LAN driver for Win2K/XP. if u do try this u can enable Marvel & disable Nvidia in bios.

luck :)
