chynn Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Good. Turn the thing OFF in the BIOS ...
Aynjell Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Depends on how certain you are with your OCing ability. If you are suiciding without a care, then no. If you want your chip to last, then setting a tempurature that you aren't comfortable with may be a good idea.
chynn Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Good. Turn the thing OFF in the BIOS ... I don't know anything about Opteron processors, but ... If the 170 is a dual-core CPU, you should load the AMD dual-core driver and the Microsoft dual-core hotfix to correct some XP bugs with duallies. Loading these drivers has nothing to do with running "Kool'N'Quiet' ... leave that turned OFF in the BIOS ... but it may improve your ability to OC your rig. Hope this helps ... vertigofm Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Oh I installed both of those- no dice, can't get a stable OC above 50mhz (ahhh).... and turning off thermal throttling didn't help either... Yeah I've just got the crappiest Core 1 known to man
