DFI NF2B: odd USB problem

Recommended Posts

hi to allz,

i'm back just to ask about an odd USB problem that I have...

my father gave me 2 usb flash drives of 128MB, but I experienced a lot of issues with them, problems writing, formatting and even recognizing...I soon started to think that they were bad because of made from an unknown china manifacturer...

but today I tried them on the PC of my sister and they work flawlessly

by now I experienced problems like:

when trying to transfer a large amount of data, after some files I get an error about missing files that cannot be copied etc, but all files are on my HD...

on my sister PC I was able to transfer 124MB of mp3s on 35 seconds...on my PC it requested 2mins before crashing...

when I tried to delete the mp3s stored in the pen on my pc, it gave me again error of missing files, but how if they are on the pen??

what could be about?

wrong USB controller drivers?

the O.S (win XP SP2) have been re-installed just 1-2 weeks ago so cannot be gremlins

by now my usb controller looks like this:

any hints on how to solve the probl?

thanks in advance

Is your sister's PC OCed?

Can you use any type of USB drive(s) on your rig without issues?

Sometimes USB connectors can become loose and not maintaining

good connectivity to the ports onboard and etc. I have taken all

my USB devices and bent the connector on them just a touch, so

that when I plug them in they are making firm contact with the tabs

on the ports.

When you look at the end of a USB connector there's

a side that has a plastic tab next to it, and a side that doesn't. What

I've done is just barely apply some pressure to the side that doesn't,

and which has empty space below it, then there's just a bit of a curve

to the USB connector and it then puts a bit more pressure on the

connections between the USB connector and the USB port.

That might help? If not, how stable are your settings (or OC settings)

with your computer. Unsure if that's an issue or not.

Maybe someone else will jump in here who's more of a USB expert, and

if what I mentioned lacks in giving you an idea of what may help you

with what you've got going on.
