MrBebop26 Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Alright so I have been on here before with no sucess but I will try again. I used CPU-z and it showed me the following. However the problem is I am running in single channel, one in the top yellow and the second in the second to top yellow. Can someone tell me why it is showing this? Also since I cannot run it in dual channel because the board is very picky about what RAM to use, I ordered: OCZ Titanium 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit System Memory Model OCZ4002048ELDCTE-K Anyone have any eperience with that? My system specs are as follows: AMD 64 4000+ San Diego core Patroit XBLK 3200 (512x2) Ram Lanparty Nf4 UT Sli-dr bios: 6.23.05 WD hDD enermax noisetaker 600 watt psu Thanks. -Ryan

MrBebop26 Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 The question is why is it showing as slot 1 and 3 when the RAM is in the first two slots (the top yellow and orange furthest away from CPU)? -Ryan
lowboy Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 CPUZ slots#s dont match no big deal.
red930 Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 For Dual Channel the RAM should be in slots 1 and 2 Yellow or 3 and 4 Orange. Slots 1 and 3 will keep you in single channel mode.
MrBebop26 Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I know where they go for dual and single channel, what i'm asking is why is it showing up as in slots 1 and 3 when it should be showing up as slots 1 and 2 BECUASE its in single channle right now. Anyone understand this? -Ryan
EdLSmith Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Let's see, you have one stick in the outermost yellow slot and one stick in the outermost Orange slot. As ExRoadie just said, that's slots 1 & 3 and isn't that what CPUZ shows. Since you have one in Yellow and one in Orange, you intended to run single channel. I think you are looking at documentation packed with the board that numbers those slots as 1 & 2 when they are actually 1 & 3. Is this the case? MrBebop26 Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Oh so the yellow are grouped as 1&2 and the orange as 3&4? If that is the case then Ed you are correct and thank you for explaining it. -Ryan
X.S! Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Yes he is correct...why on earth would you run single channel anyway
MrBebop26 Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I dont want to run in single but it wont boot Windows in dual. The motherboard hates Patroit memory. -Ryan
