sumasage Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Thanks for the information. This should be sticky somewhere to help people when comparing boards. for the "D" model, can the nvidia SATA2 controller run SATA1 drive? for the "DR" model, you will have a total of 8 SATA ports (4 SATA1 and 4 SATA2)? Sharp Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Thanks for the information. This should be sticky somewhere to help people when comparing boards. for the "D" model, can the nvidia SATA2 controller run SATA1 drive? Yes, any SATA2 controller will support SATA1 drives. It is just like an ATA133 IDE controller, backwards compatible with ATA66. for the "DR" model, you will have a total of 8 SATA ports (4 SATA1 and 4 SATA2)? Yes.

inphared Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Whats the difference between: DFI NF4 SLI-DR DFI Lanparty SLI-DR Expert Im not sure if i have the exact name right but you guys will get what I mean. Which one is better?
Trevor Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 The Expert is newer and better, it is different in a few ways which I don't feel like saying. Pci-e slots are further apart, uses that 8pin power thing instead of that 4pin one and stuff.
naddie Posted December 23, 2005 Posted December 23, 2005 I see that the layout has been completely redone. Maybe it's me, but from screen shots, it looks like the Expert has way more tweakable BIOS options. Not sure of Monarch COmputers is reputable, but its around $200 there for the Expert, whichis also the same price as the nF4 SLI-DR (non-UT). Same price as Newegg (but Newegg does not offer the Expert). I guess it's anyone's choice. I may go for the Expert over the non-UT nF4 SLI-DR if the price is the same. I am worried about where the CPU slot is moved to, though - the Thermalright XP-90 overhangs a bit over the RAM on a traditional layout, but not so on the Expert. Also, for cases with a side fan and duct, the duct and fan combo won't be over the CPU area, since it moved forward. Edit: hmm... may be a good thing - HSF cools CPU, side fan/duct cools memory....
